Lexington, KY— U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) held a sendoff event on Friday afternoon for Sixth District students nominated by Congressman Barr to attend military service academies this year. Today’s event was held at the Kentucky High School Athletic Association building in Lexington. The keynote address of the ceremony was given by U.S. Air Force Second Lieutenant Vincent LoPiccolo, who graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy this year. His sister Sophia will be taking his slot at the Air Force Academy next year.

“On behalf of Kentuckians in the Sixth Congressional District, I want to thank each of these young men and women for volunteering to serve their country,” said Congressman Barr. “After four years, these students will join the ranks of the greatest military officers in the world. I will be praying for their success and am forever grateful for their service.”
