LEXINGTON, Ky. – Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) today congratulated Lexington-based Space Tango on receiving three NASA awards to assist in their efforts to establish biomedical manufacturing capabilities on orbit.

The project awards come two months after NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine visited Space Tango in Lexington on an invitation by Congressman Barr.

“Space Tango is leading the way in microgravity research and manufacturing with a goal of improving life on Earth – and they are doing it from right here in Central Kentucky,” said Congressman Barr. “I am thankful to NASA for awarding these projects to Space Tango to assist them in continuing their important work.”

"These awards are a huge boost to Space Tango's goal of leveraging the environment of microgravity for unique / high value manufacturing, enabling us to continue to expand our workforce and accelerates partnerships with our customers across the country," said cofounder and CEO Twyman Clements.

The awarded projects include research on protein-based retinal implant manufacturing, stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine.
