Washington, DC — Today, Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced a $111,428.57 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the Flemingsburg Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD). The grant will be instrumental in replacing 13 outdated Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBAs), ensuring that each firefighter is equipped with a personal mask, bolstering their safety while in the line of duty.

"The FVFD plays a vital role in protecting their community, and by replacing 13 outdated SCBAs, we're not just providing equipment; we're investing in the safety of our firefighters and the well-being of our constituents”, said Congressman Barr. “I am proud to have supported FVFD’s grant application and will continue to advocate for the tools and resources that ensure our first responders are well-equipped to face any emergency.”

“This grant comes at a crucial time for the FVFD, and I am thankful for Congressman Barr’s support of this grant application”, said Fleming County Judge Executive John Sims. “This new equipment will allow for the Department to participate in live burn training sessions which will ensure our first responders are safely prepared to serve our community.”
