Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) continues as the Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. In this role, Congressman Barr will be responsible for holding the Biden Administration accountable and protecting Kentuckians from attempts to politicize access to financial services. If the movement to restrict access to capital for politically disfavored industries is successful, it will have devasting consequences for Kentucky. It would mean skyrocketing household energy prices and the potential loss of thousands of jobs for Kentuckians working in the energy industry. Congressman Barr’s reappointment was made tonight by Congressman Patrick McHenry (NC-10), Ranking Member of the full Financial Services Committee panel.

“I am honored to serve again as the lead Republican on the House Financial Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee,” said Congressman Barr. “In this leadership role, I will continue my oversight of the government’s financial response to COVID-19 and provide meaningful checks on the Biden Administration as they implement their misguided economic and climate agenda. I will also continue my fight against the politicization of access to capital by countering the Biden Administration’s weaponization of our financial regulatory system to accomplish far-left goals, and ensuring that industries within our committee’s jurisdiction provide fair access to financial services without regard for public relations concerns or political pressure.”

“As Ranking Member of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, Congressman Barr will remain an integral member of the committee’s leadership team, carrying out one of this committee’s most crucial duties,” said Ranking Member Patrick McHenry. “Andy played a leading role in the 116th Congress, helping to guide our oversight actions on important issues including cybersecurity. I am confident that with his return as Subcommittee Ranking Member this congress, he will continue to provide thoughtful leadership as the committee conducts oversight of the Biden administration and our nation’s COVID-19 response.”
