Richmond, KY – Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) spoke at the Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Veterans Education and Transition Support (VETS) Center dedication ceremony on Tuesday morning.  Barr has long supported and advocated for the creation of the VETS Center at EKU.  

“This is a great day for student veterans here at EKU,” said Congressman Andy Barr.  “EKU has a longstanding commitment to making veterans feel at home in their campus, and the establishment of the VETS Center will only further this goal.  The VETS Center is a tremendous space that will serve generations of military and veteran students to come at EKU.  I look forward to visiting again in the future.” 

“The Veterans Education and Transition (VETS) Center highlights our sustained commitment to military and veteran students at EKU and I am grateful Congressman Barr joined us for the opening of the VETS Center,” said Barbara Kent, Director, EKU Office of Military and Veterans Affairs.  “EKU has always had a partner on veterans’ issues in Congressman Barr, and we look forward to working with him to ensure the health, education and success of our veterans at EKU and throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

The VETS Center at EKU, now housed in the Jaggers Room of EKU’s Powell Student Center with a purpose to develop and provide services, programming and opportunities to engage, transition, retain and graduate EKU’s veteran and military students.

Congressman Barr is a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee (HVAC).  Barr recently led the Veterans Benefits Fairness and Transparency Act (VBFTA) to unanimous passage in the HVAC and will continue to advocate for veterans’ issues in Congress.
