Carlisle, KY— U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) secured $1,000,000 in federal funding for the Bourbon and Nicholas County Regional Industrial Park. Barr pushed the funding through the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026. He voted for the appropriations package earlier this month and President Trump recently signed the funding bill into law.

The funding will support critical water infrastructure improvements for the Regional Industrial Park. These improvements will provide reliable water service to support industrial development, attract new businesses, and strengthen economic growth across Bourbon and Nicholas counties.

“This industrial park will drive economic growth and create opportunities for businesses and families in Bourbon and Nicholas counties for years to come. Reliable water infrastructure is essential to moving this project forward, and I was proud to advocate for this funding during the appropriations process,” said Congressman Barr.

Nicholas County officials have identified this project as a top priority to improve water reliability and promote economic growth. The funding will help ensure the Regional Industrial Park is equipped with the infrastructure needed to attract new businesses and support future development.

“This project has been a top priority for Nicholas County, and Congressman Barr’s leadership made it possible,” said Nicholas County Judge Executive Steve Hamilton. “These water improvements will significantly enhance the Regional Industrial Park and help us attract new employers, expand opportunities, and grow our local economy.”

“This investment strengthens the partnership between Bourbon and Nicholas counties and positions our Regional Industrial Park for future growth,” said Bourbon County Judge Executive Michael Williams. “We’re grateful to Congressman Barr for delivering the funding needed to support economic development and job creation across our shared region.”
