Lexington, Ky – Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) is pleased that the Trump Administration has approved Kentucky’s FEMA Disaster Designation request, which allows the Commonwealth access to additional federal funding to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This designation is critical and enables Kentucky access to more federal resources through FEMA, which are invaluable as we continue to confront the COVID-19 pandemic in our state,” Barr said. “I joined my colleagues in the Kentucky Congressional Delegation in a bipartisan effort to urge the President to approve this designation, and I am grateful for the Administration’s decisive action in response to our request.”
On Friday, Rep. Barr voted to pass the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, the most aggressive fiscal stimulus package in American history. This was the third major legislative proposal Barr voted to pass in response to COVID-19. He previously supported the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act.
