LEXINGTON, KY – Today, Congressman Andy Barr visited Clark County Community Services (CCCS), a nonprofit organization in Winchester that provides food, clothing, shelter and utility assistance while encouraging families toward self-sufficiency.
During his visit, Congressman Barr discussed how organizations like CCCS would benefit from H.R. 4719, the America Gives More Act of 2014, which passed the House yesterday by a bipartisan vote of 277-130.
“Organizations like Clark County Community Services play a vital role in our communities,” said Congressman Barr. “I was glad to share more information about the America Gives More Act, which will ensure that expired provisions in our tax code that encourage contributions to organizations like CCCS are renewed and made permanent.”
“We appreciate Congressman Barr’s efforts to encourage charitable giving and helping the many individuals, businesses and farmers who tend to donate more nutritious food to those who need it most,” said Debbie Fatkin, Executive Director of CCCS.
“People understand the needs of their neighbors far better than large government programs do,” continued Barr. “This legislation will increase charitable giving in our communities, helping charities, nonprofits, foundations and schools across the country expand their reach and serve those most in need.”
H.R. 4719 combines five separate bills that increase charitable giving and make permanent several important tax provisions. To read the legislation, please click here.
