Flemingsburg, Ky – U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced a $12,500 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant to Fleming County to purchase a new sheriff’s vehicle today.  This USDA grant is through the Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant program.  The announcement was made by Congressman Barr at the Fleming County Fiscal Court with USDA Kentucky State Director Hilda Legg and Fleming County Sheriff Gary Kinder on hand for the occasion.

“Law enforcement officers have one of the most difficult but critical jobs in the country.  Fleming County will be able to upgrade its sheriff’s vehicles because of this grant, allowing them to better safeguard the community they serve,” said Congressman Barr.  “I supported Fleming County’s grant request and I will always support law enforcement in Congress.”

Congressman Barr supported Fleming County’s grant request through a letter of support to the USDA for their grant application.  Congressman Barr also voted for the 2018 Farm Bill, which reauthorized rural development grant programs at the USDA, including the Community Facilities Grant program.  Lastly, Congressman Barr voted in support of the 2019 and 2020 Consolidated Appropriations Acts, which provided $45 million and $49 million respectively towards the Community Facility Grant program.
