U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) voted against House Democrats’ fiscally irresponsible “government funding and debt ceiling bill.”
Washington, D.C.— U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) blasted House Democrats’ for passing legislation that paves the way for their $3.5 trillion spending spree to bankrupt America and engineer a permanent socialist state. Following his vote, Congressman Barr released this statement:
“House Democrats are corrupting the budget process to pave the way for $3.5 trillion of massive new spending designed to impose a cradle-to-grave socialist state that will bury future generations with mountains of debt. I refuse to be part of this partisan betrayal of the American taxpayers and hard-working Kentuckians that I was elected to represent in Congress. I have voted in the past to raise the debt limit in a bipartisan fashion. However, after Democrats forced through a $1.9 trillion spending bill on a party line vote less than a year ago, I cannot vote to give them a blank checkbook to pursue trillions more in tax and spend policies.
“Furthermore, this government funding proposal strips $1 billion in funding for the Iron Dome, which protects Israel from missile strikes from terrorist groups like Hamas. After abandoning our Afghan partners and blindsiding our French allies, it appears House Democrats want to go for the trifecta and deliver a blow to another key American alliance. I fundamentally reject this, and I will fight to ensure that the United States always stands with Israel and the Jewish people.”
