Lexington, KY—Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Legacy Business Park in Lexington. Barr secured a $10M federal grant through the Community Funding Project (CFP) process in fiscal year 2024.
The new Legacy Business Park is expected to create almost 1,700 high quality jobs and an estimated over $10M in annual tax revenue for the state and local governments once completed. The Legacy Business Park will be outfitted with updated sewage infrastructure, walkways, and roads to help the city of Lexington continue to keep pace with vibrant growth.
“Legacy Business Park will establish the infrastructure necessary to see Lexington continue to grow and flourish,” said Congressman Barr. “In doing so, the Legacy Business Park will be a catalyst for new businesses, jobs, and economic growth in Lexington for years to come. I want to thank Mayor Gorton and all our local and state partners who championed this project with me and my team to get this across the finish line. I also want to thank Commerce Lexington for their great work on this project, led by President and CEO Bob Quick and EVP of Economic Development Gina Greathouse, for their instrumental work helping to facilitate the land agreement between the University of Kentucky and the City of Lexington.”
“Thank you to Congressman Barr. This is an enormous accomplishment that we project will bring almost 1,700 jobs to our community with a combined annual payroll estimated at nearly $100 million,” said Lexington Mayor Linda Gorton.
“Legacy Business Park is the result of unprecedented collaboration among the University of Kentucky, the business community and government,” said Bob Quick, President and CEO of Commerce Lexington. “Commerce Lexington is thrilled about the opportunities the Legacy Business Park will help usher into the City of Lexington. We want to thank Congressman Barr for his leadership in bringing the $10M federal grant to help finish the Park.”
