LEXINGTON, Ky. – Today, The House Committee on Energy & Commerce subcommittee on Consumer Protection and Commerce announced a legislative hearing titled “Legislation to Promote the Health and Safety of Racehorses” on Tuesday, January 28th.
During this hearing, the committee will discuss the Horseracing Integrity Act (H.R. 1754) – bipartisan legislation introduced in March by Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) and Congressman Paul Tonko (D-NY). Barr and Tonko have introduced a version the Horseracing Integrity Act since 2015.
“This hearing is an important step in furthering the conversation around the need for transparency and standardization in horseracing,” said Congressman Barr. “I look forward to a robust discussion with Members of the Energy and Commerce Committee and equine industry experts on how to ensure the integrity and safety of the sport.
