Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) today voted against a short-term funding bill that continues current spending levels without reforms.

“I was elected to Congress with a mandate from the people of central and eastern Kentucky to reduce federal spending and get our fiscal house in order,” said Congressman Barr.  “While the House of Representatives made great progress in passing a responsible budget and appropriations bills with real reforms, those spending reductions and reforms that I voted for are not reflected in the Continuing Resolution passed by the House today.  If we continue to authorize bills that keep the federal budget on auto-pilot there is little incentive to change course and end the cycle of governing by deadlines.  We must restore regular order and make the difficult decisions necessary to reduce government spending, balance the budget, and ultimately pay down our $18 trillion national debt.”
