WASHINGTON – Congressmen John Yarmuth (KY-3) and Andy Barr (KY-6) today announced a friendly wager of locally distilled Kentucky Bourbon on Friday night’s NCAA Sweet 16 Dream Game between the University of Louisville Cardinals and the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

The teams’ second matchup this season promises to be an epic clash between the two most recent National Champions.

“Kentucky has a lot of talented players, and they’re maturing into a great basketball team,” Yarmuth said. “But the Cardinals are proven winners. The defending champs lead the nation in margin of victory, turnover margin and, by my count, booms. And Coach Pitino’s undefeated Sweet 16 record is — there’s no other word for it — Russdiculous.”

“When it comes to college basketball, there’s simply no place like my old Kentucky home,” said Congressman Andy Barr. “Our Wildcats won the meeting earlier this season and I am looking forward to enjoying some of our neighboring district’s finest distilled spirits after the Cats beat the Cardinals … again.”

Congressmen Barr and Yarmuth agree on the Commonwealth’s signature bourbon industry, working together to introduce H.R. 2312, the Aged Distilled Spirits Competiveness Act of 2013. This legislation would correct the tax code to end the inequitable tax treatment of aged distilled spirits in order to help Kentucky's distilling, bottling, and tourism industry to continue to grow and create jobs.

Yarmuth is also founder and chairman of the Congressional Bourbon Caucus, of which Barr is also a member.
