WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Andy Barr released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 624, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2013.  The bill passed with a strong bipartisan majority of 288-127:

"This legislation begins to address a dangerous and growing national security threat facing our country.  Cyber attacks against our nation’s critical infrastructure and private and public computer networks are already happening every minute of every day.  By enabling private sector entities and the government to voluntarily share real-time information about malicious cyber attacks that pose a significant threat to our economy and national security, and by preventing disclosure of personally identifiable information, this legislation answers the challenge of cyber security while affirmatively protecting the privacy rights and civil liberties of the American people."
