Washington, D.C.— U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY) spoke on the House floor on Tuesday night in support of the Republican Study Committee’s (RSC) federal budget proposal. RSC’s proposal balances the federal budget in seven years, secures the border through reimplementing the Remain in Mexico policy and fully funding a border wall.  The budget also makes the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) permanent and protects the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion.

“Our nation is over $30 trillion in debt.  This debt crisis threatens the long-term prosperity of every American and helped usher in historic inflation crushing so many middle-class Kentuckians.  RSC’s budget restores fiscal responsibility to Washington by balancing the federal budget within ten years and rescuing America from bankruptcy,” said Congressman Barr.

“Additionally, RSC’s budget includes the Fair Access to Banking Act, legislation I proposed that protects key American industries such as energy producers from discrimination by banks or lenders who politicize access to capital to satisfy the radical agenda of climate extremists.  Ensuring access to capital for American energy businesses is vital for creating the long-term economic growth needed to balance the budget,” Congressman Barr concluded.
