Press Release
Barr is an Original Cosponsor of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act

WASHINGTON – After being sworn in to the 114th Congress, Congressman Andy Barr supported passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, which exempts veterans already enrolled in healthcare plans through the Department of Defense or the VA from being counted toward the employee limit under the Affordable Care Act.  As an original cosponsor who helped introduce this legislation, Barr released the following statement applauding theHouse passing H.R. 22 with unanimous support:

"Unfortunately, too many veterans cannot find work these days as a result of flawed Washington policies that are hindering job creation,” said Barr. “Today, I was glad to again support the Hire More Heroes Act, which is a bipartisan, commonsense piece of legislation that will give those who have selflessly served our country more employment opportunities by providing American small businesses with the ability to hire more veterans. We must do everything we can to help the men and women returning home, and this bill will help our veterans find work without punishing small businesses for hiring qualified and well-trained employees.

"The Hire More Heroes Act is an example of the kind of jobs bills the House passed last Congress with strong bipartisan support that were never passed by the Democrat-run Senate. I look forward working with the new Senate and getting Congress back to work.”
