Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) was sworn in as the first session of the 117th Congress began.
“I am humbled and honored to have earned the trust of the people of Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District to continue serving as their Representative in Congress,” said Congressman Barr. “Now more than ever, proven leaders are needed to deliver results for families, workers and small businesses throughout the Sixth District, the Commonwealth of Kentucky and entire United States of America. I look forward to building on our record of accountability, effectiveness and results during the 117th Congress.”
Congressman Barr represents 19 counties from Central and Eastern Kentucky and is serving his fifth term in Congress. Congressman Barr will continue serving as a senior Member of the House Financial Services Committee, where he will continue his leadership advocating for expanded access to capital in rural and underserved areas, provide needed oversight of the Federal Reserve, U.S. Department of Treasury and other financial regulators and promote reforms to federal housing programs to empower struggling Americans to escape poverty, overcome addiction and achieve self-sufficiency through the dignity of work. He will likewise amplify his work to block misguided efforts to politicize access to credit.
Congressman Barr also looks forward to continuing his work to hold the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) accountable for causing the COVID-19 pandemic and implementing the recommendations of the China Task Force on which he served during the 116th Congress.
Finally, Congressman Barr is committed to honoring his late wife Carol, who tragically passed away last summer of heart disease, by fighting for more federal resources for medical research into mitral valve prolapse, the condition from which she suffered.
