Richmond, KY – Yesterday, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced $3,500,000 in federal funding from the Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project Funding process to Eastern Kentucky University for the Central Kentucky Regional Airport. These funds will be used to construct a general aviation terminal to accommodate the growing demands of the CKRA and to ensure the airport can safely and effectively service the citizens, tourists, future pilots, and businesses of the Commonwealth.
"With aviation serving as the number one export in Kentucky, the demand for professional flight, aerospace management, and technology is critical. Central Kentucky Regional Airport is one of the busiest in the Commonwealth and home to the only four-year aviation degree program in the state serving over 400 students," said Congressman Barr. "I am proud to support Eastern Kentucky University's efforts to train the future pilots and airport managers of the world. This project will also promote economic development in Madison County and the surround region."
