Georgetown, KY – Yesterday, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced $1,635,200 in federal funding from the Fiscal Year 2024 Community Project Funding process to the City of Georgetown. These funds will be used for the engineering and design of the extension of Lexus Way and expansion of Old Oxford Pike. Upon completion, this will allow a developing, regional multimodal transportation network to serve the residents, businesses, and visitors of the rapidly growing Georgetown and Scott County community and the surrounding Bluegrass Region located in central Kentucky.

"The area served by this project continues to see exponential residential and commercial growth, and improvements to these roads will improve long-term efficiency of the roadway itself, increase economic productivity, and enhance safety measures for workers and consumers," said Congressman Barr. "I am proud to have broad community support in sending Scott Countians' hard-earned tax dollars back to their community."

"The City of Georgetown is thrilled to receive this Community Project Funding allocation for the design of the Lexus Way extension and Old Oxford Road expansion project. This appropriation is an important first step toward making a long-term goal a reality for our community and the region as a whole," said Georgetown Mayor Jenkins. "We want to thank Congressman Andy Barr for his continued support of Georgetown/Scott County. This funding will serve as a springboard for a critical community project and will benefit the residents, businesses and tourists of Georgetown/Scott County for years to come."
