Congratulations to Hyster-Yale and Berea city officials on a tremendous partnership to help grow jobs and the economy in Berea.
Thanks to the Post Clinic in Montgomery County for hosting a discussion between federal, state and local leaders on access to health and dental care in Kentucky.
It was great to have Kimberly Reed, President and Chairman of the Export-Import Bank of the United States in Kentucky to meet with business leaders from Lexington, Stanford, and Richmond, to share export finance solutions available to help Kentucky small businesses increase sales and compete effectively in the global marketplace.
I enjoyed visiting with the Civil Air Patrol of Georgetown on during their Open House event!
EKU President Michael Benson and his team do an incredible job supporting Veterans and their families as they transition from active duty to the classroom. I was honored to be part of the EKU Military & Veteran Affairs’ welcome back picnic in Richmond.
It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the tremendous work Voices of Hope is doing in Lexington, which we did today at their Overdose Awareness Day. I enjoyed visiting with co-founders Alex Elswick and Amanda Fallin-Bennett.
I enjoyed speaking at the Nicholas Co. Farm to Table event recognizing FFA scholarship recipients.
Early in the week, I had the opportunity to be part of the Gateway Area Development District’s 50th Anniversary celebration in Mt. Sterling.
Our Recovery Working Group in Lexington had great participation. Thanks to everyone who joined us!
I met with several great groups during recess, including representatives from the Kentucky Broadcasters Association.
Recovery communities are vital in the fight against addiction. I was honored to visit and learn more about Lexington’s Oxford House.
Great to meet with Lawrenceburg City officials and learn about their priority projects.
I enjoyed visiting with Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA) and its member Contech Engineered Solutions at their manufacturing facility in Winchester this week, discussing funding for transportation infrastructure and the short line tax credit. It was great visiting with employees and learning about Contech's business operations and their impact on Kentucky's economy. It’s always good to visit with state and local officials from Clark County and the surrounding area as well.
I enjoyed meeting yesterday with new Bluegrass Community and Technical College President Dr. Koffi C. Akapo and discussing how BCTC can help fill the need for skilled workers in our communities.
Great to be with Governor Matt Bevin and EKU President Michael Benson today in Madison County to announce Kentucky’s Appalachia Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Training Project. This project will provide opportunities for those displaced by the downturn in the coal industry, veterans, and others seeking employment in Kentucky’s ARC counties the opportunity to earn an Industry Recognized Certification as Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
April 23, 2019, was a great day for Montgomery County! For the first time since 1895, the City of Mount Sterling and Montgomery County have a brand new fire truck. Our office was pleased to assist local officials with a FEMA grant to help purchase this truck. Congratulations Montgomery County!
What a tremendous honor to meet Mr. James R. Crain, PFC Company A, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry, 101st Airborne Division, Vietnam. Mr. Crain contacted our office in August requesting the issuance of the Combat Infantry Badge, which he was never issued due to paperwork issues. After submitting his request, he was issued new orders for not only a Combat Infantry Badge, but for a Purple Heart Medal for injuries sustained during combat operations and several other medals as well. Thank you, sir, for your selfless service to our country.
Thank you to EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler for visiting Kentucky for a great roundtable discussion with Kentucky agriculture producers and industry representatives, and thank you to Kentucky Ag Commissioner Ryan Quarles for hosting and inviting me to participate. I enjoyed visiting with EKU’s Special Topics in Finance Class as they prepare their submission for the Conference of State Bank Supervisors’ national competition. Best of luck to these great students!
Great seeing the folks from Country Boy Brewing in DC and discussing the positive impact the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act has had on their business. I also got to try their new summer drafts for #CraftBeerWeek!
