Obamacare

More on Obamacare

On Monday, September 9, Congressman Andy Barr helped introduce H.R. 3067, the No Obamacare Subsidies for Members of Congress Act of 2013, legislation authored by Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito (WV) that would prevent Members of Congress from receiving a roughly 75 percent subsidy for the purchase of a health insurance policy on the healthcare exchanges created under the Affordable Care Act.
Congressman Brett Guthrie and Congressman Andy Barr announced today that the House Committee on Education & the Workforce Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Chairman Phil Roe (TN) will hold a field hearing entitled, “Health Care Challenges Facing Kentucky’s Workers and Job Creators” in Lexington on Tuesday, August 27 at 10:00 AM. The hearing will take place at the Farish Theater in the central branch of the Lexington Public Library, located at 140 East Main Street in Lexington, Kentucky.
“The Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny Act is a critical tool in the battle against job-destroying overregulation. For too long, Congress has delegated away its legislative powers, leaving federal agencies to enact regulations at great costs to the American people with little oversight. The REINS Act will hold Congress responsible for the laws it writes, restoring accountability in the regulatory process that hurts Kentucky’s families and small business owners, and leads to higher prices for consumers, fewer jobs for workers, and weakened American competitiveness.”
On Thursday, August 1st, Congressman Andy Barr (KY) spoke on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives about his support for the REINS Act and about a jobs amendment to the REINS Act which he cosponsored that would require the agency drafting a Federal rule to include a job-impact assessment in the proposal's cost-benefit analysis.

This will show how many jobs will be created, or more realistically, how many jobs the proposed regulation will destroy.  It will also reveal whether these job losses or new jobs are in the private or public sector.
Today, I voted to delay Obamacare’s implementation, saving jobs and protect hardworking American families from the individual mandate. Unlike the President, we know it’s not fair to give businesses and labor unions relief from Obamacare’s job-crushing provisions and leave families to deal with the disastrous consequences.
Congressman Andy Barr spoke about how the President's Climate Action Plan "substitutes numbers and theories for flesh and blood" on the floor of the United States House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Andy Barr today announced the launch of his newly re-designed congressional website, www.Barr.House.Gov.  This new "Online Office" will serve as an interactive and informative resource for Congressman Barr’s constituents.

H.R. 2010 - Live by the Laws you Write Act

Congressman Andy Barr introduced H.R. 2010, the Live by the Laws You Write Act, simple, two-page legislation that aims to close Obamacare’s congressional loophole and ensure that Congress and its staff are not exempt from the laws that it writes.

H.R. 2312 - Aged Distilled Spirits Act

Dear Congressman Barr:

I also believe it is wrong for the people who wrote Obamcare to exempt themselves from it.

I appreciate you taking on a stand on this important issue by introducing H.R. 2010, the Live by the Laws You Write Act, to close the congressional loophole and ensure that Congress and its staff are not exempt from the laws that it writes.
