WASHINGTON – After being sworn in to the 114th Congress, Congressman Andy Barr supported passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, which exempts veterans already enrolled in healthcare plans through the Department of Defense or the VA from being counted toward the employee limit under the Affordable Care Act.  As an original cosponsor who helped introduce this legislation, Barr released the following statement applauding theHouse passing H.R. 22 with unanimous support:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Barr released the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling that some employers will not be required under the Affordable Care Act to provide insurance coverage for certain drugs and devices that are contrary to their religious or moral beliefs.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Barr voted today to enforce new accountability standards for the Department of Veterans Affairs, saying:

“America’s freedom is only possible because of the sacrifice and bravery of our veterans.  However, recent reports of gross mismanagement and falsified data records at the VA, coupled with an utter lack of accountability at the agency, denies our heroes the care they have more than earned.

"This is unconscionable and completely unacceptable.

On Tuesday, February 11th, the new Federal Reserve Chair, Janet Yellen, appeared before the Financial Services Committee to provide testimony about the Fed's policies and to answer questions from Members about the state of the economy.

Congressman Barr's questions to Chair Yellen focused on improving the employment situation in our country, the impact of Obamacare on the size of the labor force, and the long-term consequences and sustainability of our national debt.
