Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) announced today that he has hired Kentucky-native Leslie Hagar Small as his District Director.  Small will serve as the Congressman’s top aide in Kentucky, manage all staff in the Congressman’s Lexington District office, and will oversee all constituent casework and outreach initiatives.

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) today announced that Lextran will receive a $1 million grant through the Federal Transit Authority’s Low or No Emission Vehicle Program.  The funds will be used to purchase battery-powered buses and on-route charging stations in coordination with the University of Kentucky’s ‘Blue Goes Green’ program which seeks a zero-emissions campus for transportation.  Congressman Barr wrote a letter to the Federal Transit Administration in support of the grant application.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) announced today that Chrysalis House, Inc. (CHI) in Lexington, Kentucky has received a $2.62 million competitive federal grant which will help CHI provide expanded comprehensive, high-quality residential substance abuse treatment for low-income, pregnant or postpartum women and their children.

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) will host a public meeting on Monday, April 24th in Lexington.  The event is the latest in a series of “Coffee with Your Congressman” meetings Congressman Barr has hosted in every Sixth District county since he took office in 2013.

The office of Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) is seeking a wounded warrior or medically retired veteran for a paid fellowship in his Lexington office.  The position is sponsored by and will be hired through the U.S. House of Representatives Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program.

“I am honored that my office was selected to participate in the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program,” said Congressman Barr.  “Several of members of my staff have served our nation in uniform and I look forward to having another veteran join our team in service to the people of the Sixth District.”

Congressman Andy Barr (KY-06) will host his annual Academy Day on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Lexington.  All students, parents, and school officials from the Sixth Congressional District are invited to attend and learn more about the nomination process to the United States Service Academies.  Representatives from the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, and the University of Kentucky Army and Air Force ROTC programs have been invited to participate.

A Congressional Caseworker from the office of Congressman Andy Barr (KY-6) will visit Winchester on Friday June 26, 2015.  The caseworker will be available to help residents of Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District to who are having problems dealing with a federal agency such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Social Security, Medicare, passports and visas through the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or the Internal Revenue Service.

The caseworker will be available to meet with constituents at the following time and location:

WASHINGTON – After being sworn in to the 114th Congress, Congressman Andy Barr supported passage of H.R. 22, the Hire More Heroes Act, which exempts veterans already enrolled in healthcare plans through the Department of Defense or the VA from being counted toward the employee limit under the Affordable Care Act.  As an original cosponsor who helped introduce this legislation, Barr released the following statement applauding theHouse passing H.R. 22 with unanimous support:
