    As the third highest opioid overdose mortality rate in the nation, it is critical that Congress do more to combat the opioid epidemic. Therefore, Congressman Barr introduced two bills that go beyond current treatment and prevention policies to empower individuals to rise above poverty and addiction.
  • Rep. Barr Questions Acting CFPB Director Mick Mulvaney

    Congressman Andy Barr questioned Acting Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Mick Mulvaney, on the Bureau’s remittance rule, its “high cost” loan rule, and the need for greater oversight of the Bureau by Congress. Because of the lack of oversight at the CFPB, Congressman Barr introduced the TABS Act to subject the Bureau to the appropriations process.

  • House Passes Barr’s World Bank Accountability Act

    On January 17, 2018, the House passed Congressman Barr’s legislation, H.R. 3326, the World Bank Accountability Act. This legislation would withhold up to 30 percent of future U.S. appropriations for the World Bank’s International Development Association until the Secretary of the Treasury certifies that the Bank has undertaken reform to fight corruption, strengthen management accountability, and combat violent extremism.
  • Rep. Barr Calls for Stronger Sanctions on North Korea

    Congressman Andy Barr spoke on the House Floor during the debate over H.R. 3898, the Otto Warmbier North Korea Nuclear Sanction Act. Congressman Barr introduced this legislation, which passed the House of Representatives, to impose the most far-reaching sanctions ever directed at Pyongyang.
