WASHINGTON – Congressman Andy Barr released the following statement upon passage H.R. 1797, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which implements a nationwide ban on abortions at 20 weeks after fertilization or later, and passed by a vote of 228-196.

"Human life is a precious gift and we must always work to protect the unborn and the most vulnerable among us.  I am proud to support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which bans abortions of unborn children nationwide, late in a pregnancy, at 20 weeks or later.  This legislation would prevent more horrific cases like that of Kermit Gosnell and ensure that innocent human life is protected.”
